After Sunny's great escape, when I picked him up I held him that way and even trimmed his nails, but I think I was shaking more than him. Great help to remember the correct way to hold him from your post. Thank you.

NO NO NO! You're doing it all wrong!!!

Well, not really... but when the vet had our Monet in that hold, she took great care to NOT touch or press on her keel (aka breast). She told me never to do so either, as that's an extra-sensitive area.

I was so very proud of Monet, because she's all but wild, yet she held still and silent thru the beak and claw clip, the dremel, and the exam of her tummy - and she never even tried to bite the doc!

Now she's back home, finally able to eat and groom herself properly again!

While the bird is held right, you should be able to gently pinch the sides of the beak tween finger and thumb to hold them in one position. You may need 2 people or 3 hands to do all this and deal with the clippers as well!
