Default Turning in circles/head tilt

I think this is the end for Le'mon. Last night she fell off her perch and her equilibrium is clearly snafu'd. Poor thing's head is moving as if she just got off a spinning ride.

She can't walk, turns to the right...etc. She has never been well since I got her in December evidently. Spent ~$280 at vet and she was on antibiotics milkthistle and benebac. She seemed to start getting much better and gaining weight, but then, back downhill...now this.

I called the vet..she said to start up on ABs, but thinks it's neurological and if she can't eat or drink, she won't make it.

I crushed up some pellets and made a liquidy paste for feeding her but I think I'm wasting my time...perhaps prolonging the inevitable...I hate seeing her suffering like this.
If she's still alive and no better when I get home from work, I may take her in to be put out of her misery. She is so boney and thin...I'm afraid to know how much she's lost...she was a sweety.

I'm so sorry to hear that she's gone down hill. You have done all you can to help her! I am sure she is grateful for everything. If her quality of life is bad, putting her down is humane. I know it is hard to do

Thanks.. question...
Are the Lutinos and albinos a more sensitive (less hardy) type or does that not matter? I don't want to go through this again if I can help it.

I am so sorry, Simpleton, that Le'mon is not doing well. I have never seen direct research on certain mutations being more or less hardy than others. I believe starting with a bird from the best possible breeding stock, and then giving it all that we can as best we know... like people some have genetic problems in their lines, might be more susceptible to cancer, arthritis, or so on. There is still a lot we don't know about these little guys, and it could be that Le'mon picked up a virus that is affecting the neuro system, or has a tumor, or gosh knows what might be - even old age (I'm not sure how many years old Le'mon is). There is just so much we still do not know - but we are able to give them love, the best possible diet we know of today (tomorrow we will know more), plenty of fresh air, exercise, love, and more love. I know it is going to be a rough couple of days for you no matter what - hang in there. (hug)

sorry to hear your little one is not doing well. If you think she is suffering I think you are doing the right thing in considering putting her to sleep. It is never an easy choice

Thanks everyone. Le'mon is gone. She fought a good fight. I only had her for 4 months but she was a sweety. She may have been close to a year old. Not sure.

When I'm ready I'd like to send a message to freecycle in my area to offer a good home to one that *needs* a home. So many are purchased for children and then they lose interest. I'd like to provide a better life for one that is being neglected etc...There were two being offered just last week and in a day, they were taken!

I've rescued most of my animals and it provides me such joy to watch them thrive and be happy after a tough start. We'll see....I'll introduce the new one when I get him/her

I am so sorry for your loss.
Still, it is so kind of you to think of the survivor who must be devestated. It's wonderful that you are thinking about taking in a rescue.

I'm so sorry that Lemon passed. You did the best you could for her. I know how horrible it is to lose one.
