before i went to bed last night i found thudders on the cage floor struggling, i picked her out and she was very wobbly on her feet, she could perch but would flop back & forth
i knew then it was her time to go
i sat with her under the heat lamp for 2 hours-
the whole time she never opened her eyes but would give little bursts off energy
finally put her in a little box with towels & millet & feathers, and left her there for the rest off the night beside my bed
i woke up again at 4am, she was still alive
6am...she is gone.
ive never known what a sleepless night is before
she is the first bird ive ever had die, but she is no longer suffering and it seemed it was right
she was gorgeous & forever will be
away in a manger,
no crib for his bed

Awww spicky im so sorry, and I just commented on the picture of her new hairstyle. I know how it feels to loose a pet, its not easy to say goodbye, but from what ive seen since ive been a member here, you are a fantastic bird mum and im sure she lived a life of luxury and will be loved eternally
I am so sorry for your loss Spicky.
It is so hard when these little ones leave us, it just breaks my heart.
She was a lovely little one and now she is an angel watching over you.

Oh Spicky, I am so so sorry for your loss. I'm just checking in on my way out to work. Your thread brought tears to my eyes and my mascara is running as I type this post. You are the best bird Mum your fids could ever have hoped for. YOur nighttime vigil as Thud prepared for her journey touched me deeply.
You quoted from "Away in a Manger". All of my life that song has had a special place in my heart. I could sing all the many verses as a child. It was so appropriate as Thud is now a special angel watching over you.
Be at peace little Thud, we will miss you here.
