Default Help on sexing a young budgie...?

So I figured this would be best in the breeding forum, I have read the other threads on this as well. I picked up a recessive pied yesterday who the breeder was fairly sure was a female. Her cere is a purple blue at the edges with a pinky brown layer over the centres of the cere and fairly large white rings around the nostrils. I read that only the females get the layered ceres? this budgie would be about three months old, so coming up to first molt. I can't see any true pale blue, but there is a tan layer over the central area of the cere...

This is the best pic I can get, I can't get a close up of her cere though...

What do you think? From all I've read, though her cere is pinky rather then blue I'm leaning towards girl as well...

I'd say the bright white nostril rings indicate she's a girl.

Attached for comparisons are pictures of my adult male recessive pied (first picture; bird on right) and 3-month-old female recessive pied (second picture). The male's upper cere was pale (not bright) white and his lower cere was purply-blue. The female's cere is mostly white with some pale blue.

Her names Pearl, we figured we could make it fit a boy if needed LOL. Her nostril rings aren't as distinct as the pic shows, but they are there.

The layered tan bits in the centre, would that just be because she's reaching sexual maturity then?

Yes when they reach about 3-4 months old, their cere starts turning brown, like you described. It means they are in breeding condition..so she will be able to (not ready, physically or mentally, until she is over a year of course) to breed.

If you are sure that it is turning brown it will be female but looking at the picture it looks male. Recessive pied males have a pink or purplish cere and I have several males whose ceres are quite pale near the nostrils

It;s not brown as such, but looks like the first layer of a female cere. It's got a bit of the crinkle that they normally have, but is only in the centre.

My Mum broke quarantine She had Pearl on her shoulder then went and got my tiel sat him next to Pearl on her shoulder and let them out with the other budgies. So I gave up and she's getting playtime with the others. She got a LOT of singing from my single boy, so that would suggest she's a girl right? or do boys sing to boys? She also followed him around obsessively and pushed my tiel of his perch.

I've no intentions whatsoever to breed her, she's simply going to be a pet and a friend for my single boy, it doesn't really matter if she is in fact a he, I'd just prefer a girl, so Poirot will stop making eyes as Silk LOL.
