"Like" Feature Removed From Site

From time to time, changes to features of the Talk Budgies Site are made to ensure the overall purpose and integrity of the site is well maintained.

At this time, the “Like” feature previously shown on posts has been removed.

Removal of the “Like” feature will help in the Staffs' effort to further distance this site from a “Social Forum” mentality as well as alleviate the misunderstandings associated with the feature’s use.
Some members used the feature as a simple acknowledgement they’d read the post.

Other members used it as a “thank you” for posting.

Many members viewed it as a means of expressing agreement with a specific post’s content.

Some members were upset when others didn’t “like” their posts.
The ongoing problems created by these differences in perceptions by both the "giver" and "receiver" of "Likes" as well as the similarity of the feature used in various "Social Forums" led to the Staffs' decision to disable the feature throughout the Talk Budgies site.

For members wishing to acknowledge a particular post which has provided valuable information, the “Karma” function is available.

Karma -- How do we use it?

Best wishes
to everyone seeking to learn about and promote
the best practices in care
for the health and well-being
of our budgies!!
