I lost my 3yr old blue budgie last night. I noticed last Saturday afternoon (after the vet closed) that he didn't look right. He was puffed up and shaking. I took him to my avian vet on Monday and the Dr. put him on oxygen and gave him meds to help him breathe. The office doesn't have staff at night so I picked him up at closing and took him back the next morning. We did this all week, by Thursday he appeared to be doing better, he was eating, drinking and breathing easier. The vet had put him on antibiotics and a pain med. Friday morning he was puffed up again. He laid on my shoulder all day and wouldn't let me put him down. We were supposed to go back to the vet this morning but late last night he took a turn for the worse and died on my chest.
You have my sincerest condolences. It's never easy to lose a little darling, but remembering your sweet heart is now free from all suffering will give you comfort.
May the memories of your little guy heal the hurt inside you now.
Fly high and sleep peacefully now little one.

I'm so sorry for your loss. I hope you can take comfort in the fact that he passed in the company of someone who loved him very dearly. You did everything you possibly could for him. I'm sure he's flying around and stuffing his face with millet over the rainbow bridge right now.
