Default Still missing Simmi.....

I'm sure other TB members who have lost a feathered friend, have felt this way too: the immense pain and sadness at losing a special feathered friend. I am missing my wee budgie boy Simmi so very much, and have found it particularly hard this week, for some reason. Feeling so sad so I posted this here just now, as I know, that unlike some 'non pet /non bird loving' people, you all understand what I'm going through.x

Susan,

That is perfectly understandable. What you're going through is normal, and others simple just don't understand

With time, you'll stop looking up to find him and not assume a feather on the ground is his. You'll not call out to both birds before bed, or say "Hey guys!" instead of "Hey Jenni!"

It will be hard and it may be awhile, but soon you'll know where to find him without even looking--he'll be in your heart.

All my best to you and Jenni, may the grief of your loss soon fade to happy memory.

Thank you for your reply. However Jenni passed last April so sadly both are gone now.

Aww - I SO understand what you are going through. For me, the pain of losing my dear budgies is just as intense as Any loss I've ever known, and in some cases, has surpassed even the loss of a family member. In my experience, the pain comes in a wave, rising to a high crest, rolling me violently, then pounding onto the shore, where it slowly fades and ebbs back where it came from, until the next one. Over time, I have found that the waves come less and less frequently, until after awhile the sea is mostly calm, and I can go on without losing it so often.
During these waves of sorrow, I have found it invaluable to focus on how Thankful I am to have known these wonderful creatures God put in my life; thanksgiving brings me to a place of joy, which somewhat counters the grief. It is a fact that the intensity of our love is directly related to the intensity of our pain of loss.
I pray you will be comforted in time with your happy memories

Sorry to read your bird, Simmi passed. Just remember the good times you had with him. Sometimes, budgies just do not seem to live a long time, and I think we both wish that they did.
