Unhappy Heartbroken RIP sweet Rio

Our hearts are broken today. Our 8 month old sweet baby boy Rio died. Kids are devastated. We all are crying our eyes out. It was a accident. Thankfully he didn't suffer long at all. We wouldn't have even made it out the door to the vet. God we love him so much it hurts.

He was bonded with his brother Kiwi. They were inseparable. Will Kiwi be ok now? Will he bond with the girl? Or a boy would be better?
We did get another one for Christmas. Not knowing we would lose our baby. A girl and they haven't met since she's in quarantine in the other room.

Sheila,

I'm so sorry for your tragic loss of baby Rio. He was precious and clearly much loved.

Pay lots of attention to Kiwi during this time as he will be grieving badly. Ensure you let him know he is loved and you are there for him.

I think he will be very glad to have a new little friend once she comes out of quarantine, given that he had such a strong bond with Rio. Be sure to take introductions slowly when the time comes to ensure he's adjusting well to the change.

Again, you have my deepest sympathies for your loss and wish you and your family all the best during this difficult time. His memory will stay alive in your heart.

Rest in peace, dear Rio, you will be missed.

Hugs to you during this time of grief

Sorry for the loss of little Rio.

Kiwi will need time to grieve so once your new girl is out of quarantine you'll need to see how he is doing and make the best decisions based on Kiwi's needs. The grieving process will be different for each bird.

Another bird being bought in would not be a good idea right now. Once quarantine is over and you have given Kiwi time to adjust, you can determine when the best time to introduce your new female will be. A third budgie is usually a bad idea, as you get one left out budgie. Most likely, bringing a female in would have changed the dynamics between Kiwi & Rio as they tried to get her attention.

You will have to see how they bond together, when the time comes.

I'm very sorry for your loss of little Rio.
It is because of Love we Grieve
and
Because of Love we are also comforted
in our Sorrow

In Memories, may you find Healing
In Time, may you find Peace
In the Power of Love, may you find Comfort.
Fly High and Free little Rio, Rest peacefully now sweet boy.

You will need to give Kiwi extra time, attention and TLC as he mourns the loss of his brother.

There is a good chance that once quarantine is over for the girl, that Kiwi and she will get along.
When the time comes, it will be best to introduce them in neutral territory.

Introducing Two Budgies

If, after several meetings, they are housed together, you will need to be sure you discourage breeding behavior.

Thank you for your kind words. Our animals are family so it's so hard. Glad there are like minded people out there.

We are going to make sure Kiwi will be ok.

I will have to look into discouraging breeding. She's very young right now. We didn't want a female, but she chose us so we said we will figure out what to do. I will post about her when I can come to terms with my baby gone.

I'm very sorry to hear this... No matter the circumstances, losing a much beloved little friend is never easy.
Time will ease the grief and as your heart begins to heal, the memories of the good times you had with Rio will give you comfort.
I hope all goes well with Kiwi and your new budgie girl.

Rest in peace, little Rio.

So sad to hear about your tragic loss of baby Rio. This might be a good time to get close to Kiwi, as you try to comfort him - most likely he will need plenty of extra TLC.
Please accept my sincere condolences - so hard...
