Some birds seem to be in a constant state of molting; however, in this case, given the lethargic behavior of your aunt's budgie and the dirty vent, the feather loss may be due to the stress of illness. Can you get him to an avian vet? He needs to be seen ASAP.

That's exactly what happened to Drini while he was sick. He started losing bunches! Never got bald but...... Does it look anywhere near this? I took this pic while Drini was sick. He never recovered!

This was the amount he lost in a matter of 2-3 days....

yes thats roughly how many feathers he is loosing in 2-3 days sometimes more.i hope he doesnt pass away it would brake my aunts heart if he did. she once cried over the death of a goldfish that she only had for 3 days.im going to prepare her for the worst so if he does die it doesnt come as such a shock

Ok, thats pretty serious. The vet just gave me some Baytril and said that it was just something passing through, and that same night he flew to the sky..... He started only walking in circles with his head tilting back and forth sideways, and his eyed jiggering everywhere. The vet said his heart sounded wet, then gave him too much medication for it! My dad called her always "that witch vet!". But I suggest telling your aunt to take him to the vet ASAP! If she can't ( I know this is hard, but the best for the poor budgie!) then to consider giving him away to someone who can afford vet care. I suggest at the moment to tell your aunt to place him in a hospital cage somewhere warm. The flock and I are sending good thoughts towards you guys!
