Default How to make stained glass safe

Hi, I have a window my birds love hanging out at because it has a comfy ledge and great view of birds in our backyard. Only problem is that the window has lead casing, and I've caught them trying to nibble it a couple times. At the moment, all I can do is keep them away from it. Anyone have any ideas of what can be painted onto the lead casing to make it safe?

The most effective solution would be to add secondary glazing to that window.

You are going to need to be especially vigilant when it comes to the window as heavy metal poisoning is one of the major killers of budgies.

I would recommend you contact:

Louisiana Animal Disease Diagnostic Laboratory
PO Box 25070,
Baton Rouge, LA 70894
(225) 578-9777

to discuss the best possible way to ensure the lead in the window be glazed and/or "protected" so there is no danger of your budgies ingesting any of the lead.
