Default Wood safety question.

Hello everyone! I have two 4 year old budgies who are free to fly around our (safe) living room all day. They are locked in their cage at night. They love playing on natural branches, but I have run out of branches I collected at our previous house. None of the trees in our current backyard are safe for our birds.

So I was looking into buying a young crape myrtle tree from walmart (it's on the safe wood list), and using it as a play tree for them. I asked someone at the store if they were treated with anything and she said they were not, but she didn't know what happened at the nursery.

Now the sticky says that "If you planted a tree and never used chemicals on it, that's fine.", but unless you planted it from yourself from a seed, how can you really know? I would appreciate opinions

I would suggest you contact the nursery that supplied the store and ask them their practices with regard to treatment of the trees.

That's not a bad idea! I'll try that, thanks!
