Post Small crack on base of the cage....uh-oh!

I was cleaning Ernie's cage when I noticed the base of the cage had a small crack in it. Even those it's small, I know that the crack will only get worse over time. The crack is, fortunately, in an area where Ernie cannot reach; so there isn't any danger of him getting hurt. Nevertheless, I know that it'll have to be replaced. My question is, when should it be replaced? The cage is still very stable, but I certainly don't want to wait until something bad happens.

Any advice would be helpful...

Thanks!

If you can afford to get one now, why not get it now and put it aside?
Or set it up and let Ernie explore it in his own time?
I mean, as it's not in bad condition (the old one) there's really no rush, so there's no real definitive answer. It's whenever it's good for you.

Thank you, Therm! No, it's not in not in poor shape at all, so I probably shouldn't rush it. If and when the crack gets bigger though, I'll start browsing for new ones.
