Default Advice On Good Budgie Toys...?

Hi, I have recently acquired two male budgies and while I have purchased a few basic toys, I am getting a much larger cage in a couple of days and will have the opportunity to give them many more perches and toys. There are so many different toys out there, I'm looking for advice on what kinds of toys you guys think would be best and what to stay away from. Thank you so much!!!!

All the great advices have all ready been given above from the more professinal but I just thought I'd add this as well. For toys Ladders are definitely a good option. I bought ladders which have bells on them and my budgies love them so much! Basically I had bought only one but then the budgies would begin fighting each other so they can get a turn at the bell so I went out and bought another one too.

I also bought this little ball which has a bell in it and they love that too.

Best of luck!!

Hi Great advice already given above .

Many of us find that budgies really love swings in particular. Mine have swings that have little toys on the sides that they like to play with while sitting there.

Budgies also love balsa wood toys. It's a very soft wood that is great for satisfying chewing for tiny beaks.

There are so many different kinds of toys out there... Providing your budgies with a wide variety of different types of toys will help you notice what your individuals prefer best. StarlingWings has given you some links for safe toys to start with .

Also be sure to read through the links given to you by FaeryBee. This will help you get started using our resource guides and forum.

A very important thing to do when looking at toys, is inspecting them careful to see if there is any possible way for your bird to injure itself, for example getting a foot stuck.

That aside, plastic toys with jingly bells make great choices, just ensure it's made from a tough plastic that the birds can't chew apart. And chew toys are great. Yucca disks, balsa wood and paddle pop sticks are great options I also sometimes like to use plastic cat balls that have jingly bells in them and hang them in the cage, my birds really love it!

Also using natural perches in the cage is great because they can double as a chew toy for your budgies as well. Mine love to strip the bark off their perches

Welcome!
The only thing I can maybe add is your two might not take to everything, My boys don't care much for swings aside from the Mini Flying Trapeez. They haven't taken to anything plastic ether, instead they much rather destroy all the balsa wood/sea grass and yucca wood (bird Kabobs by Wesco) they get. It really is figuratively throwing everything at the wall and seeing what is a hit and what is not. Also don't give up on what is a miss! Rotate in the toys later, put them in a different spot in the cage! Mine will ignore a toy forever if its in one place, but move it to another spot and its their new favorite thing!

Have fun, you might need to show them how to use a toy, but don't give up. I doubt I need to mention this but I learned this on my own, but look into the size categories. Part of finding safe toys is providing them with the properly sized toys.

Good luck!
