Default Scared my budgie wont eat

So I just got my budgie this nice big cage (compared to its last one) and it came with new food/water dispensers. my budgie seems happy with the new cage but I haven't seen her eat or drink for few hours, and when I handfeed her she happily eat (i gave her a little bit because i obviously don't want her to starve) so i am just curious if this is normal behaviour ? will she start eat when she is hungry enough?

thanks

Have the type of food dishes changed?

If they are really different to how they were in the old cage, then it might take a bit of time.
If you can show your budgie friend where the food is by engaging her when filling the food bowl, she should see what you are doing and where the food is.
I would make sure there's a perch near the new food bowl and you could also put an old food bowl close to where the new one is.

I'm sure your girl will soon discover where her food is.
Let us know when she finds it.

Welcome to the forums!

Once your budgie starts exploring her new cage, she will find the food and water containers. Meanwhile, you can place one of the old food containers she's familiar with and attach it onto the cage's bars close to the perch she normally goes to.
If you don't have a food container that attaches onto the bars (inside food container), then you can place half a spray of millet or a treat seed stick for her to munch on till she finds her way to the new food container.

Hi! to Talk Budgies

Moving into a new cage is a change in your budgie's environment so it may take her a couple of days to adjust. Both Therm and aluz have given you very good advice.

Please take the time to read through the Site Guidelines, all of the How To Guides, the FAQs, the Budgie Articles and the stickies located at the top of each section of the forum.

I have during the day encouraging her with millet towards her food and she has been eating a little bit but still hesitates, I'll just keep trying

She normally is allowed to fly around but I want her to get used to the new cage and get the food and water, so she currently seems bored right now as she flies around and tries to find ways to escape (i read that would be normal behaviour if your budgie is used to fly around in a room)

Please be sure you read the information in the links below.
You've upgraded her cage size and now it would be good to upgrade the accessories. It is important to use natural wood perches of varying diameters rather than the wooden dowel perches currently in her cage.
