Default Please help- Boy or girl?

Hi I just got this creamino budgie. But I don't know the gender. Can someone tell what's it's gender? And the person I got it from told me it's 8 weeks old. Does it look like 8 weeks? And do creamino budgies behave any other budgies and talk like other budgies?

Hi there and to Talk Budgies!

Your budgie is adorable, congratulations! He is a beautiful boy Also, different colour mutations (such as creamino) in no way affect behaviour, just like hair colour doesn't determine behavior in humans. Not all budgies choose to talk, but whether or not he does or doesn't has nothing to do with his colour

He does look like he is about 8 weeks old. Additionally, you'll want to remove the sandpaper in the bottom of the cage and replace it with newspaper or paper towels, since it is quite bad for budgies and he can chew on it and get very sick. Prolonged walking on sandpaper also causes bumble foot and foot sores.

To ensure his feet stay healthy, putting in natural wood perches of different diameters is a much better option than the dowel perches you have in there now Also, after he's settled in, you should remove the treat stick to ensure he doesn't eat too much of it; it has a lot of fat and sugar.

You should start offering your little one some veggies in addition to his seed mix, and consider introducing pellets to him at a later date (after a month or so of him settling in). It's important that budgies have a varied and balanced diet!

Sorry for the overwhelming amount of information I know you'll be a great budgie "parront"

Be sure to also look through the forum's many Budgie Articles and "stickies" (threads "stuck" to the top of each subform for easy reference) to stay up to date on all the best practices for caring for budgies. If you have any questions after reading through everything, be sure to ask as we'd love to help!

I look forward to seeing more of your darling boy soon!

Cheers!

Hi! to Talk Budgies

Your little MALE budgie is adorable.
What have you named him?

Please remove the sandpaper perch covers from the wooden dowel perches right away.
Sandpaper perch covers are very bad for your budgie's feet and can cause both pressure sores and bumblefoot.
Natural wood perches of varying diameters are best and you can check this link for other good perches to use for your cute little guy.

Essentials to a Great Cage

I agree with Star that the Sandpaper on the bottom of the cage needs to be changed out as well.
Newspaper, white kitchen towels, white or brown craft paper are all good options.

Please take the time to read through the Site Guidelines, all of the How To Guides, the FAQs, the Budgie Articles and the stickies located at the top of each section of the forum.

Truly, the very BEST advice anyone can offer you is to take the time to read ALL of the stickies throughout the various Talk Budgie forums as well as the Budgie Articles we have posted.

These are great resources for Talk Budgie members and have a wealth of reliable information which will assist you to learn the best practices in caring for your budgies for their optimal health and well-being.

When I first got my budgie I wasn't able to tell the gender either. But I trust these guys's judgement. This little guy is so beautiful
