Default Gender? Dominant or recessive pied?

Hi! Just adopted a sweet baby and I've spent a lot of time reading and comparing photos but I can't figure out if this babe is a he or a she. I'm really confused as to whether it's a double factor recessive or dominant peid. What do you think?

Welcome to the forums and congratulations on your new little friend! You have certainly come to the right place as you will find all you need to know on budgie care here. The information on the several articles and sticky threads will be extremely useful and of benefit to you and your new budgie.

By looking at the latest photo you have attached which seems to the the best one of the bunch, I'd say you have a boy there.
Judging from the overall lack of body colour, I think he is a double factor dominant pied budgie but better photos showing the whole extent of his tummy and also his back can shed more light on his full mutation.

You're very welcome.
Upon looking at the markings on his wings, I'm now more inclined on your budgie being a recessive pied, he is sky blue in colour.
As your budgie grows, you will be able to have better confirmation on his mutation.
If his cere keeps the immature colour and the eyes remain fully black, then that will prove he is a recessive pied.

Best of luck with your gorgeous little friend!
