Madhatter is on a distinguished road
Default Renny*/*Renae ?

I purchased a budgie to partner up with my beautiful hen Sky. It has just gone through its first molt and the whitish blue cere is now turning tan, so I believe Renny is actually a Renae.
The idea was to find a partner for Sky. I now believe I have three females and only one male in my aviary. Can the experts see this as being a problem with hens being more aggressive etc. Suggestions would be appreciated.
Note I brought the bird from a breeder who pretty much guaranteed me a male. English X American.
Thanks.

It would be helpful if you posted some pics
(though it does sound like your budgie is female)

If the budgie in question had a whitish blue cere that is now turning tan it sounds as if you have a female.

Please post full-frontal pictures of the cere (clear and in-focus) taken in natural light and we will be able to advise you with regard to the gender.

To upload full-sized pictures with the proper orientation, please use a photo-sharing service such as PhotoBucket and follow the steps in these instructions:

For gender and/or mutation help - Lighting and Angle DOES matter

It is not advisable to have three budgies of one gender and one of the opposite gender housed together.

I would recommend separate the male into a cage of his own.
Alternatively you can pair him up with one of the females and house the two of them in one cage with the other two females in another cage.

Please ensure you are following the necessary steps to discourage breeding.
