Default A couple clips of my English budgie Dicky

Here he is being rather wary of my phone showing off his big fluffy head:

And here he is having a fun time with his mirror while listening to some music:

Dicky playing - YouTube

And a little gif of him getting a lovely treat (non salted potato chip)

Yeh hes very fluffy which I think adds to his cuteness. I have never seen another budgie as fluffy and with such large head feathers (when "erect").

I actually have to trim his vent area with scissors because of all the cotton wool like fluff down there....selective breeding for fluffiness I guess.

He also likes to say "whos a pretty boy" and give kisses which again adds to his cuteness

Dicky is adorable.

As I'm sure you want only what is best for him, I would not recommend you play with him with the mirror in that manner as doing so may well encourage him to be aggressive and territorial of his cage.

Additionally, mirrors are not recommended as budgies can easily become obsessed with them.
This can lead to excessive regurgitation to the "birdie in the mirror" which causes nutritional deficiencies in the budgie.

What do you suggest, I take out all his mirrors?

So how would I go about taking them out without upsetting him and what would I replace them with....he doesn't really like anything other than mirrors. I tried him with some of those plastic balls with bells inside and he seemed to always get his feet caught in the holes which was really scary and upsetting when having to rescue him.

I just cant seem to find any toys he likes that doesn't include a mirror.

I got a lot of great ideas for toys from this sticky: Essentials to a Great Cage

I'm not sure if english budgies like to chew, but Yucca / Bird Kabob toys have been a big hit with my budgie (pet style, not a show budgie)... and also anything by Planet Pleasures, but lately especially the one with the 4 rings:

Perhaps acrylic toys with bells would be a nice substitute?

Looks like both you and Dicky are having fun in this video. He has excellent coloring of his feathers.

The reason he only likes mirrors is because he's obsessed with them and hasn't had access to a mirror-free place to explore other toys

Since he's so attached to them, take out one of his mirrors every few days. When you do, replace it with a brightly coloured toy that will distract him.

He will sulk and be upset without mirrors for awhile, but it is in his best interest not to be surrounded by mirrors. His mental and emotional health can rapidly degrade the more he becomes obsessed with his reflection.

Let us know how it goes!

Ok I will give it a go but the one problem I see is he has a little mirror that he uses as his bed, it sticks out and has a little ledge which he likes to lean on and snuggle into. He almost tucks his whole body into the little area and hangs his bum out out end and head out the other and leans into it like a Salvador Dali painting:

There is 1 mirror in the cage that he does seem to be very obsessed with, he will always pick the mirror over my attention or if i accidentally bump it and he hears it jungle he will jump to it instantly, I will take that one out first and try and replace it with something fun.

EDIT: Ok I removed 4 of the bigger mirror toys and he seems sort of angry but also interested in the new space he has. Will give it a few days between taking the others out but I think his bed will have to stay as he loves to lay on it.

He'll be ok..... just be sure to put fun new things in there. Budgies are very curious and love new items for mental stimulation.... and once Dicky gets over his pouting stage he'll have fun with his new toys. (And you. ) Also he might feel less frustrated because "budgie mirror friends" don't really do what the budgies want or expect them to do.
