I'm sorry to have to explain this to you guys and I know a lot of you are probably going to be really upset and mad with me but I've had to remove Ronnie (The yellow 7 week old budgie from the cage).

Let me explain exactly why.
The main reason was jealousy, every time I tried to tame Reggie Ronnie became very frustrated and would always attack Reggie, but eventually today it seemed he just snapped. I took Reggie out of the cage to do one on one training in the afternoon and Ronnie went absolutely besserk it's my own fault and I should of realised. When putting Reggie back into the cage to allow Ronnie some time out for his taming session he began attacking Reggie and pecking at his face, luckily Reggie isn't hurt he's just a bit shook up. From now on Reggie will be getting a lot more care and playtime on his own as of the split. For any of you wondering about what happened to Ronnie do not panic, he has been put into my uncle's aviary with many other budgies and will be a lot happier there. I made sure that my uncle will look after him with the up-most care and when it comes to it may even use him for breeding by finding him a loving mate also. I apologize to anyone who got their hopes up of seeing Ronnie in future posts but that will not be the case. I really hope people will be understanding. Thank you very much.

I'm sorry for the way things have turned out.

Unfortunately, given Ronnie's more aggressive temperament shown at such an early age, having him on an aviary setting will very likely not be a good idea because the fightings can still happen and even escalate to a worse stage with the flock he will be sharing the same space with.
For obvious reasons (exacerbated viciousness that can escalate due to out of control hormones), it's also not advisable to breed from budgies who display a more violent or aggressive nature.

I'm wishing both Reggie and Ronnie all the best.

Jasmine,

Of course we understand. We could never be "mad" at your actions for ensuring you have the best interests of your budgies in mind. Although it may have been a hard decision to let one of your babies go, I know they both will be much happier.

Here on the forums, where everything we do is to promote the best practices for budgie care, we often have to recommend to people to separate their budgies after attacks or aggression happen between them. The fact that you took the initiative to separate them after Reggie was almost seriously injured is great and shows your devotion to the health and happiness of your budgies.

I hope Reggie is doing well after the incident, and I look forward to seeing more of him!

By the way, I agree with Aluz. Due to his extreme aggression, Ronnie may be better off as a solo budgie

Ah I see, my uncle is a lot more knowledgeable when it comes to budgies so my uncle will surely put him in a cage of his own and at least keep him as a pet even if it means he can never be with any other budgies. It's a shame that some budgies have such loving, amazing personalities while others have very angry and aggressive behaviors. Hopefully Ronnie will have a loving home even with his personality and will be able to be a loving, tame, happy bird. I wish Ronnie all of the best in his life also and hope that he does indeed get all of the fulfillment and satisfaction he needs.

Jasmine,

You did the very best thing possible by separating Ronnie from Reggie to ensure Reggie would not be injured.

You are obviously looking out for Reggie's best interests and that is very commendable!

If you uncle breeds budgies, he will know it is important never to breed a budgie that has demonstrated aggressive tendencies.
I'm sure your uncle will take the time to find Ronnie a safe and loving forever home with someone who will be more than happy to have a single bird if your uncle is unable to keep Ronnie that way himself.

Best wishes!

Thank you all so much I will admit even though that Reggie is on his own he seems extremely okay with it, playing with his toys, exploring the cage a lot more, even moving around a lot more than before. It seems like Reggie may even like being on his own as the toys and the things inside of his cage seem to be pleasing him enough. Even though I will be receiving the perches tomorrow and will be replacing them so that they're better for his feet.Of course I've bought some various toys too, ones made out of other different materials then just plastic all of the time

So my uncle came to see Reggie today and by looking at his nose he now thinks that Reggie could be a Regina Because of the white around her nostrils we won't know for sure if it's a he/she until the budgie grows up a bit older because again he/she is only 5 weeks old. But I'll keep you guys updated RONNIE IS DEFINITELY A BOY THOUGH

Little Reggie/Regina after eating some of her Iodine block she/he clearly enjoyed it yummy! Now she/he's gone off to bed for sleepy beddybyes.

For now, I'm going to call Reggie "he" just to make it easier.

Reggie looks as though he very much enjoyed his mineral block and I hope he has sweet budgie dreams tonight!
