Hermes and Izzy are just stunning and I'm so glad to hear they're doing well

I'm hoping to see a breeding journal around when the time comes!

If you have any questions after reading the links, be sure to ask as we'd love to clarify anything for you

Default Hermes and Izzy Pictures (Ongoing Thread)

Finally decided to make an Ongoing Thread of my two feathered friends I'll use this for periodic picture uploads (you know how much I love pictures) Since this is the first post, it'll have the most pictures, so don't worry I won't upload this many pictures every time I'm also making a new video of them, as there were some adorable moments of them playing today, so I'll try to make and post it on my Video Ongoing Thread in the next few days. Enjoy!

First we have Hermes playing with Photo Booth:

Hermes: "I've always wanted to have X-Ray vision"

Hermes: "WOAH! Who is that handsome bird?"

They love their new cage so much that they don't want to come out! The closest Herm got was standing in the door...still haven't convinced them to come all the way out

Cleaned cage today and "remodeled" it. The longer I have this cage, the more I love it! It takes me 1/4 of the time as my old cage to clean and it's great wheeling it around to vacuum under it or put it next to open window so they get some sunlight As you can see, these two are now playing in all levels of the cage. The toy I ordered finally came (shipping took about a month) so that's in there now. More pics of it below.

Here's the new toy! It's a natural wood tower, complete with some rope (which Iz loves) and a bell (Hermes' favorite!)

Weirdly enough, Izzy, the more cautious of my two birds, was the first to go and perch on the tower! Normally she waits for Herm to test them out, and even then will sometimes wait a few days before going to them herself. So this was definitely an immediate hit!

Hermes wasted no time in peeling and gnawing on the wood

Streeeeeetch! I love Herm's white armpits-er wingpits?

Iz settling down for a nap

And Hermes sleeping on his favorite perch: the food dish Excuse the water spots that the sun kindly highlighted- leftover from washing and not drying it quick enough

Sleep walking? More like sleep eating! We all know what Herm dreams about

How can you not love that fluffy face!

I told Herm to smile and he gave me this goofy face! His little tongue though!

I was practicing for choir and Herm joined in: "La, La, La, Laaaaa, LAAAAAA *voice crack*"

Hermes just "hanging out"

Hermes the blur who loves to pop up out of nowhere when itís time to take a picture

Izzy trying to hold a conversation with Hermes and he's off in la-la land
Izzy: "Hermes, Herm- HERMES!"
Herm: "What is THAT?"

Love this pic

LOVE this- black and white picture, going for the artsy look

Wow, those pictures are stunning! I love the detail and the bright colours--which camera do you use?

Hermes and Izzy are both very photogenic I particularly love Hermes' close-ups!

The black and white picture at the end is amazing--I would frame that How did you set up that shot?

Their cage looks great and I can imagine they're having a wonderful time exploring it and using it to their full advantage However, I would trim all the rope fringes as if they chew on them, fabric can be easily dislodged and swallowed, and their toes can get caught in it. Rope used on other toys should also be monitored to ensure it doesn't fray and they don't chew on it

I can't wait to see more of them on their ongoing thread!

Totally awesome pictures!

I'm very happy you've decided to start an on-going thread and will be looking forward to lots of updates of little Izzy and Hermes.

I thoroughly enjoyed going through your pics, you truly got some priceless ones!
My favourite of the bunch is the second pic of Hermes sleeping on his food dish.

Thank you! I use a Sony RX100.

And thanks! I actually hadn't intended the photo to be artsy but after I took it from above, I played around with editing and thought it would look good B&W. I didn't even try to set up the shot- just snapped a pic of Herm and it turned out

As far as the ropes, I have a few toys with the fringes and always keep a close eye on them. Izzy loves to weave them but I've never had my birds get caught in them or swallow them. But it's a great idea to just trim them and not have to worry about it! How much should you trim it? Just down to the knot?

Thanks again for the help and compliments

I enjoyed looking at this photo shoot of Hermes and Izzy . They are both beautiful! I like your cage... I also have a double flight cage, but mine is horizontal instead of vertical and it takes up so much space. Yours still has plenty enough room in the width, but is space saving .
