Fido is such a cutie!

I love the pictures as well as the video of his workout!

Maybe you can get him a budgie sized "Fitbit" for Christmas.

Have not been able to find any pellets here in a size manageable for budgies, only bigger birds or powder
We did a test today and mixed a little testbowl for them, as a test, with only very few seeds in it, they actually ate some, maybe by mistake, but I saw them crunch and eat some of the pellets, gives me hope for the future
Yep, the ZuPreem in the Budgie size is way too big IMO. I've always used the small size for Canaries which seems to work much better for Budgies. Good that you are getting them to eat pellets also.

Lol.... " the big scary scale. " .Ha. ....Agree with Cisco re. the "budgie size" pellets being too large and uninviting for budgies. If they made natural ones (no color) in canary size I would have tried those at some point. Gray news they didn't turn their nose up at the pellets. Once my budgie was so annoyed by the pellets he knocked the food dish down.

I'm sorry your Fido has been sick, I'm sending my best wishes for his full recovery.

Does any of your birds do this, just for the sake of doing it?

My Vet, who actually helped us get his crop back to normal(thank god) seems to think it's nothing to be concerned about, I find that hard to believe :/

René,

I'm assuming you are asking about the "chewing" behavior?

My Scooter does that continually. I had him seen by an Avian Vet about it several months ago and he is perfectly healthy.
He's the only one of my nine budgies that does it and none of my budgies in the past ever did it either.

It almost looks like he's chewing gum or something since it is a continual motion.

Thanks for the reply.
Yes, that is exactly what it looks like, didn't even think about it that way haha, chewing gum...

Just thought it might be something to worry about, since this started back when the other health problems became noticeable and I never saw this behavior displayed by any other budgie, must be coincidence or my mind playing tricks on me

Other than doing this, he is acting like the Fido I know, causing mayhem whenever he can get away with it
Guess it is just a part of the adult weirdo he has become then!

Down to 38grams and holding btw. was at 43 before the last round of treatment, and checked out OK at the last followup at the vet's

It's wonderful to hear Fido is back to himself again other than his new "chewing gum habit".

I guess you and I should get Fido and Scooter together and find out if they are chewing Juicy Fruit, Spearmint or Big Red!

I watched Fido closely today and it actually looks like what he does is "play" with his food, I looked up close 3 times and he had a small seed right at the front of his beak all 3 times, just moving it around right at the tip, very odd this
I have a poor camera, so will not be able to get this on video sadly, but really looks like it
