Budgie Breeding Before breeding any species, it is important to learn as much about the animals, their personalities and the best practices to follow for responsible and ethical breeding prior to making the commitment to take on the responsibility.

Hey I am curious how to get eggs from the female budgie for candleing without freaking her out and making her abandon nest.

Yeah I'm new too. So far this site has been very helpful

When the female moves out of the nest box to drink you can easily remove the egg(s) for candling at that time.

If your female is used to being handled, you should be able to calmly and gently move her to one side as you talk to her reassuringly.

Try not to disturb the hen unduly. Doing so can result in her abandoning the nest.
