Question Poop sticking to butt

of late when my poops it sticks to his butt. do I need to take him to the vet?

He is eating, drinking, playing and ect. just fine. His little feathers around his butt seem a bit long so maybe I should trim it down?

**Update: I didn't have to trim his vent...which I'm glad since I hate being bite!**

You can trim around the vent area, I've read it on here... but I've never needed to. Maybe if you wash it off... it won't accumulate anymore.

Does the poop look normal ? or is it watery ?
Sometimes poo does stick to the bum depending on how they were positioned when they done it (ie: Upside down)
Just take luke warm water and poor it over a cloth and gentally wipe the bum

My little one was playing and doing his thing but his dropping were sticking to his vent... took him to the vet and ended up on anitbiotics and 10days in an incubator. I'm not an expert but it might help those on the board to know what the droppings look like. I hope it is just a matter of trimming.

Oh his poop looks just fine and is dropping at a normal rate (all the time!). Isn't watery or dry...I clean him off all the time so it isn't getting stuck. Will trim tomorrow...glad it's not something bad.

Thanks guys/gals!

Trimming vent feathers is very normal especially for english budgies during breeding season.
You don't even have to trim them. Budgies can reach their vents with their beaks. This is how we end up with poop sticking to the walls Because they flick the poop around when it gets stuck to their vents while getting rid of them.
From time to time, Mika has poop stuck around her vent and she manages to get rid of them. As long as it is not blocking the vent itself, it is not a problem
Good luck!
