Can't tell from the photo. Can you give a brief description of your concern?

Hi missy_missy. It is hard to tell from the picture, but as far as I can tell it looks okay. Are you concerned about the colour of the cere (the area around the nostrils)? Sometimes the cere can be a bit whitish in colour with kind of a lavender purplish colour on girlie budgies. Does Electra have a honeycomb-like, white crusty material on her cere or on her beak? If that is the case, it is possible she may have mites and that would require treatment by a vet. If mites are not treated early, they can actually deform the beak. However, as I said, it is really hard to tell from the photo. I would be curious to find out from you what your observations are that are concerning you.

Hi missy missy. Yes, her cere is the area surrounding her nostrils. From what you have said, it sounds completely normal. It's not mites at all (but I thought I would throw that in there in case anyone was checking out the budgie's beak and saw something unusual).

When budgies are young, their cere can be a couple different colours and that's perfectly fine. It'll gradually become more evenly coloured. Even my budgie Kiwi, who is about 2 years old, has a cere that has a couple of shades of blue. It is quite fascinating to watch as the cere changes!

Female budgies cere's can range in colour from white to pale blue to brown depending on what stage in the breeding cycle she's at.

Not when her cere is looking like that. A hen in peak breeding condition will have a rough chocolate brown cere.
