Hi there,

I've come across the the product below on the internet.
A Vitakraft Sprouting Pot for birds.

My little ones looooove lettuce and so far I've not been able to convince them to eat anything with a different color.

I think It would be a great thing to partially replace fresh veggies every day and the fertilizer factor could be completely eliminated, because it's grown within the cage.

Is anyone of you using a product like this?
Do you think it's a good idea?
Can anyone tell me where to get one in Canada?

Looking forward to all your comments.

Thanks!

Why don’t you save your money and sprout your own bird seed in small cups?

#1 it will be less expensive to your wallet.

#2 it will let you know the seed you are feeding is alive and viable. This IS something you should know. Feeding dead seed is like feeding your bird paper - no nutritional value.

I bought it for my birds. I got great sprouts, but my birds wouldn't eat them. They never eat anything green except lettuce, but somehow I hoped they would like this.
Now, the canary next door is getting the sprouts:p He loves them.

You might as well make your own sprouts, I agree....

I've never bough one, but I'd like to try it on for my budgies.

Hi there,

thank you for your helpful replies.

I was thinking about growing my own seeds but then my thoughts went to what soil to use and what type of sprouts to buy. Do you grow the sprouts in soil or something else?

I have a lot of plants at home but no experience growing sprouts whatsoever.:S

Because I'm sure there are certain sprouts that are not beneficial for a budgie's well-being.

Any ideas?
