I came across this on an online bird store. Do people actually use these? Has anyone here ever put their budgie in a "flight suit"? Seems a little odd to me, but who knows? I can't imagine trying to get my budgie to wear that! Haha. ;)

They are ever so expensive, and My birds wouldn't let me put them on! I can tell you that!
I wouldn't get one, as I think they are a waste of money.

Green would rip my fingers to shreds if i tried to put one on her! They are a waste of money, i would'nt buy one. Budgie's don't need flight suits to fly, they just fly! :)

what does a flight suit actually do? DOes it have a rope attached to keep them from flying too far? And is it like a diaper?
I think its both....not sure:S

WHAT THE HECK IS THAT FOR?!?!?! Why would u buy that??? I think its a bit wierd to tell you the truth....
I'm a supporter of flight suits, i think they're great. They're difficult to find in Oz though so i haven't managed to get my hands on a couple. They're super light weight fabric which is flexible and comfortable for the bird to wear. Their purpose is to be able to safely take your bird outdoors without the risk of it flying away, you get a lanyard leash with it. They're not supposed to be used like a kite, they're not so you can 'fly' your budgie. They're used so that your budgie can enjoy the great outdoors safely. You can really only use them with very tame budgies because trying to put one on an untame budgie would result in terrible stress and could cause your budgie to panic and hurt itself.

I bought one to see how my bigger birds would do with it. I wanted to be able to take them outside without them being in cages. They hated it! I even did what the directions said to do, hang it near them, then in the cage and they went nuts when I tried to put it on them. I wouldn't recommend it. I won't do that to my babies again. :( :sad3:

I am never getting that thing for my budgies. sorry Bea, but I think that is a positively ludicris idea. What if your budgies got loose? Bye bye budgies . . . . No way am I putting that thing on my precious birdies! I have a small room, that is where they fly, so I am not limiting the already limited flying freedom for them.

i was looking at the pics and i think there kind of weird,,,,, i understand harnesses for parotts and so on, but i think they would look woerd on a budgie
Well i believe they come with a warning saying that the wings should still be clipped as an added precaution. It's true that most birds don't like wearing them but everyone i've spoken to has said that all is forgotten once they're out enjoying the great out doors. They're also designed mainly for the larger parrots.

Budgies are parrots.
