Well, I've been thinking about getting a second budgie for a whiilllee now, and the place that I'm getting them from will have them ready in a bout a week (I'd get him or her next weekend) I have a problem, though. My current budgie, Willow, isn't exactly what you would call tame....as of now she won't even perch on my finger (she used to be making progress, but suddenly one day she was spooked and now I'm having a very dificult time). I want to get this second budgie now because they will not have more for quite a while, and this one that i'm getting was hand raised since he was just a baby and is very good with humans. I'm just afraid that being with the untamed one could change him. What do you guys think I should do? I would like to get him and continue training with the other one, but what are your opinions?

Hmmm. That is always a toughie. You should consider that the opposite might happen: your new little tame sweetie may just influence your other budgie to adopt a similar tameness. But I agree with newbudgie101; you would want to keep them separate for a while (certainly make sure you quarantine the newbie for 30 days minimum). You may wish to take the second budgie (the tame one) and play with him/her in front of your first budgie so that he can see that being with humans isn't all that bad! Good luck and let us know what you decide to do!! :p

Thanks, guys, I'll consider both. I think what I might do is put the new one in a separate cage (although its quite small) away from the other, but he should be ok in it since I will take him out quite often because he will already be tamed. Then, I'll continue training with Willow and try the playing with my tame one in front of Willow and see if that has an effect. Then later on when she's a little tamer, I can introduce them and put them together in the large cage. ^.^ but if anyone else has suggestions, feel free to say them, I'm listening! :) :budgie:
