Yep, you separate the bonded pair for a week i think it is, and then you introduce the mate you want for the female to her and give them some bonding time, then introduce a nest box.

You can but it wont necessarily work, you should first separate the bonded pair and give them time to un-bond before introducing the new mate.

It's a really bad idea to leave the other two birds with the ones that are breeding mainly because they get kind of terretorial around breeding time. The male needs to spend time with the female by bringing her food or helping her by sitting on the eggs while the female is outside the nest recharging her calcium by eating cuttlebone or other mineral rocks or even food. The other two will only be in the way and the female is 90% more likely to feel aggrivated because her babies are more at a threat.
So if you think your ready to breed them just make sure you kno what your doing, its more work than you may think. The female could die if she doesn't have everything she needs or if she doesn't have enough calcium available for her, she could begin to eat her own eggs to regain the calcium she lost. Then she will lay a egg for everyone she either ate or you took out of the cage, so for 19 days make sure you dont touch her eggs. And if you are positive they are not fertile (no vain marks when you hold it to a light) then you must boil the egg, let it cool, and give it back to her so she doesn't lay any more eggs.

yes, i agree with bea. seperate them first, and if you can, keep them totally away from each other so they cant hear the calls. then later introduce the new mate. dont give them a box right away, let them bond, then when all the signs are there that they are ready, give them the box.
i'm bad, i've always let mine pair up, no matter what the colors, lol
