PLEASE help, very worried!!! :(:(:(

hi, everybody. My (female I think) budgie, Willow, seems to have something strange with her cere. It looks like she is in breeding condition, similar to this: http://www.birds-online.de/allgemein/weibchen_brutstimmung02.jpg. However, this only covers a little more than half of her cere, the rest is a normal, tannish pinkish, so it is like a bump on her cere in a way. What does this mean, is she ok??? :(:(:(

Girl budgie ceres can get quite crusty and that is considered normal. Sometimes, they can even become quite uneven and require a bit of scraping by an avian vet (I don't recommend trying to do that yourself!). It sounds like your sweetie is reaching maturity (i.e. breeding condition). If you are at all concerned about here cere, I would encourage you to bring her to see an avian vet. Do you have a picture of your budgie that you can post? Her cere doesn't look like it has a honeycomb-like crusty material does she? Please keep us posted!

No, it doesn't look like a honeycomb. Sorry, I don't have a picture, but looking at the one I posted above, it is very much like that but it doesn't cover the whole cere :-/ It's like...thee's that dark brown larger part, then a part of her cere does not have that at all and it is obviously below the taller brown part. The problem is that I've never actually had any problems with her and don't really now where an avian vet is around me. :(

Thank you very much, I was planning on getting another budgie within the next week (a hand raised little sweety) but I don't know now....if nothig changes I'll make sure that somehow I get her to a vet, but money is an option too....ahh...

I don't exactly know what I'll do about that....considering I'm only 14 and parents driving me to a vet and the money and everything, ugh it's hard....:(
