the SPCA called on them...?
I've had them called on me twice.
Once when I was 12, once last year.
I'd put an ad in the paper to find homes for my kittens one time, and had a call from a lady wanting to know why I wasn't selling them.
NOw being 12 and acting somewhat my age, I was just giving my kittens away, people would come I'd chat with them for a bit, and help them pick out a kitten that was best suited for them. From keeping in touch with most of the people, most of kittens had forever homes. These people came back for more kittens years later or told thier friends about me.
I could not convince this lady that I was fine with giving them away, she lectured me over and over again, finally I got fustrated and let my mom talk to her. My mom told her basically what I did. SO she called the SPCA on me.
The next day I had a visit from an officer, who was very nice. I took him around, he met all my cats and my kittens. He was amazed that my cats were all in great condition and my kittens were all healthy and playful and had a HUGE area to hang out in.
By the end of it, he left and said he'd never be back... :)
My 2nd incident was last year, I'd "rescued" my mare Babe the year before, she was underweight when I got her, and was also nursing a foal. That winter she was kicked in teh head and broke her jaw, she couldnt eat properly so didn't gain alot of weight, when she gave birth (she was also pregent again), she was still quite skinny. I started pumping the food into her, I was so at a loss to figure out why she wasn't gaining any weight, until one day I caught her baby from the year before nursing off her. The combo of nursing a yearling and a foal was draining everything out of her.
Some lady saw her condition and called the spca (theres more to this story then just my horse)...
Two SPCA officers showed up and I explained why Babe was so skinny. They had showed up at breakfast time, so they also saw the large amout of grain Babe was chowing down on and I pointed out her lunch, dinner and midnight snack. I showed them the grain buckets and my hay, and even though Babe was skinny she had a glorious coat.
The officers were at ease that I was in no way neglecting my horse and went on thier merry way.
So anyone else?
