fruits of my labour last night. I ran around to soo many craft stores that closed at 9, but I ended up going to the craft section in wal-mart! Just some wooden beads, plastic beads, rope and some bells. More toys to come, just waiting for my mom to get home from work so we can finish them together :D

Wow! Those are some very creative ideas :D I think it's great that people like to make their own toys for their budgies :)

Fantastic hand made toys. Must be a lot cheaper making them yourself then buying some from the pet shop.

What a great idea! I was actually thinking of how easy it would be to make some of my own toys for my budgies the last time I was looking at toys at the pet store. There was this one toy with a few beads and string for 6 bucks!! It would definitely be cheaper to make your own toys, and not to mention fun! :)

It also feels way nicer to see your birds playing with a toy you made for them, it's very rewarding, you should try it.

Wow cool toys, looks like wal mart is the way to go. Probably cheap to get the materials too.

The toys look fantastic, but I'm sorry to have to tell you that jingle bell can be a hazard to Budgies. They can get their little nails/toes caught in them, also their beaks. :(

Thank you, but I know this now. I've ordered from a site someone gave me on another forum for bird toy parts, so don't fret.

I make all of my toys and it's not only fun, but a good feeling. There is no way I'd be able to afford any of the toys in the pet shops. The possibilities for making your own Budgie toys are endless . . . Just make sure that the things you use are safe!

Stay away from using things that have paint and varnish on them, and be careful of things that are sharp.

My Budgies love things made from natural wood, sticks from the yard (they love to chew the bark off) and string. When I make a toy and hang it, I always make sure I leave a little snippit of string after the knot, so that they can chew on it. There is so much you can do, if you just take the time to do it.

I have even made a neat play-gym for my Budgies and they love it.

Thanks Tina - for sharing your photos, your ideas, and your excitement! It looks like you're doing a great job, and having fun at the same time.
