I have read other posts and even though it's like being pregnant and not knowing the sex until birth, I am curious about my budgies and what color possiblities we may have here.:D Momma Lucy is the blue one hanging upside down, Dad Skylar is the teal( looks green on the photos) with yellow face and Auntie Dizi is the yellow. Thanks in advance for all those who help!

I'm not sure what they will look like but with two parents like that i'm sure they'll be studs :P

Lucy is a Normal SkyBlue.
Skylar is a Yellow Face type 2.
and Dizi ia YF2 Recessive Pied.

The chicks would end up coming out like Lucy or Skylar I think.
I'm not good with genetics.

Thanks!!!, I knew Skylar was a yellow face but didn't have a clue on the females. I bred Skylar and Dizi last year and Chick #1 was similar to Skylar but not yellow face as was #2 and #3 looked like Lucy????:S It is so much fun and anticipation when they start feathering.

Okay I found a great website that helps ID color and mutations. In the photos above please tell me if I am correct. Blue/white chick is Opaline, as is the yellow "headed" one. The last is yellow face 1?
My mother adopted the second one and she is a bugger! Got to bird sit her over the winter...what fun:p

Any opalines you might get from that pairing will be females. It's sex linked, and as neither parent is visually opaline, that means dad's carrying it. Any male babies will carry it, females will show it. :) Other than that, you'll get yellowface, and whiteface normals. Just like mum and dad. Of course they could be sneaky and be hiding other genes, those are the fun suprises!

All three of the chicks last year were females!!! :o I am learning something new everyday here. Thanks so much. So if Dad is the carrier of the gene, I can look for the possibility of more opalines in this clutch. How exciting!:jumping1:

Thanks, Bea, :urock:
