View Full Version : What does your budgie's play area look like?

I thought it might be interesting to see how everyone sets up their budgie's play area for playtime outside of their cages. Even if all you have is a playgym, it would still be neat to see! Perhaps you may get inspired for some ideas for your own budgie(s).

Here's what my budgies' play area looks like today (it isn't always this elaborate; just when they are out for several hours at a time):

Wow! That's amazing! Blinkie's play area is the whole house although he has got his own little gym which he likes:

He also has a few toys on top of the tv shelf thingy:

Gee Bea, what a lucky budgie; the whole house! Blinkie must love that! You've got a really cute playgym and I love the bobble budgie you have in that second picture! I've got something similar; it's a penguin on wheels.

Wow - incredible set ups! What lucky little budgies! Question, are your budgies wings clipped?

Hi Debby. I keep my budgie's wings clipped most of the time; they are fully flighted right now, but that is more because I have just been slow to bring them in to get their wings clipped again (I don't do it myself).
I like to have them clipped because it isn't unusual for my little budgies (especially Aries) to go exploring in other parts of the house, including upstairs! They can be quite tricky to find when they fly away; they seem to get all quiet when they are "hiding". Also, I would be afraid that one of my sweeties would take off outside quite easily if the front door was open for example.

How about yours? Are they clipped?

Blinkie was clipped when he was a baby but i have let his flight feathers grow out and now he has a ball flying from person to person squawking in everyone's ears. :p

I'm never going to clip my budgies wings. I don't see the point and I like my budgies to fly naturally and not get scared at the prospect of not being able to fly properly.

I can't spot Aries anywhere in that pic! Where is he?

I can see Skyla and Kiwi but where on earth (or where on perch(!) Ha ha thats funny!) is Aries?

It's like Where's Waldo! If you look closely at the cage on the far right of the picture, you can see Aries on the top of it near the little yellow toy. He has his head tucked into his feathers because he is preening so he looks like a headless budgie in this particular picture! Let me know if you spot him!

Why not try making one? it's not a real difficult project and you will get alot of satisfaction in seeing your bird enjoying something you've made.

This is the gym i made for Gus and he spends most of his time there, he loves it.

Thanks a lot shawna. Sometimes it can be a lot of work to set up, but I love giving them all that stuff to check out, especially when they will be out for several hours at a time. :p Spoiled little budgies they are!!!
