I've never noticed this until Cuddles' latest molt. He is a gorgeous olive green, but I'm noticing like a sky blue undertone on some of his feathers. I came across feathers that he molted and the bottom half was a grey/blue while the top half was green. You can see him here:

He's between 2 and 3 years old, could it be something that has just progressed as he matured? It's very interesting, I'd like to know if you've seen this before!

Rember that a green bird is blue with yellow. Most green birds will have a bluish tint to there feathers. :)

Thanks. It's just that all the blue on him was only just by his vent, now it's all over his stomach. Could it have been that this molt just brought them up even further?

I think I see what you are talking about. I think someone said that certain mutations will have colour changes with each molt. I don't know if that applies. He appears to be an older bird so it wouldn't be just a change from baby colouring.

Are you sure that bird is an olive? These pics don't show the tail.
An olive has dark blue tail feathers and the body is MUCH darker.
A grey green has black tail feathers.

Here's some pictures of his tail feathers. They are like a navy blue. I don't know if he's technically and olive, he's just been complimented on his color a lot so thats what I use to describe it. LOL

I am confused. :S A green bird is a green series bird that has blue and yellow feathers instead of green feathers? Is that just for olive birds or for the wild type light green and dark green birds?

Beautiful Olive bird you have there!
