Well... this may seem pretty fast, but I put the nest box in this morning, right away Rainbow seemed very interested. I've seen her lay infertile eggs before, so I know what it looks like, and she's in the process of laying an egg right now. I'm kind of excited. I don't know if it's fertile yet, but I'll check it in a few days.

So how does this work, do you guys want pictures of the pair, and the cage, and the nestbox or what?

I gotta wait for the camera, as I have no decent pictures of Angel. But I do have a cute picture of Rainbow and the carrot plant she killed.

See where there's a large amount of dirt missing? She threw it out of the dish in huge mouthfuls.

Oh, I found a not blurry pic of Angel. He's the one of the right hand side.

They're both beautiful!
You'll probably get more Angel's not Rainbows's since he's dominant pied.

I was actually going to ask that.. I love Rainbow's coloring.. That's okay though, Dom. Pieds are very beautiful as well.

Got them a new bigger mating cage this morning, they seem happy. Rainbow won't leave the nestbox except to use the bathroom, and I was happy to see that Angel is taking good care of her.

I got a new baby budgie this morning, as Bpo Bpo has turned out to be female (I should have believed you guys when you said she was a girl :P Now I know better), I got her a little boy budgie. I think he's a dark-eyed clear, but I'm not too sure, he's white all over, with dark eyes, and some block lines (just a few) on the back of his head, will post a thread with pics.

Still no egg yet, but I got my fingers crossed. I also went out and bought a flashlight that I think will work as a candler very well. Can't wait to use it ^^

The nestbox is plastic, which I don't like, I'm going to look for a new wooden one this afternoon. I'll post pics tonight if I can.

Well I went away for the weekend, and two eggs arrived while I was gone. So now there are four. I hope she stops soon.. But they're doing awesome. The only thing that's not so fun is that I have to clean the cage three or four times a day... I was gone for almost 2 days, my mom fed them but she didn't clean the cage and it's a disaster! Pics as soon as I clean up.

Nope. She's just sitting tight on her eggies. I candled them a few days ago, and there are veins in three of them. There are five. I would take more pictures, but Rainbow doesn't like to be disturbed.

Just wondering, I came back and her eggs were pretty dirty. Should I wash them off?

Iīve never had egg experience but i would say that would be a BIG no-no...... donīt wash eggs because I think it might do some damage..... well in case you use soap or the so which i donīt thin you would do...... but i also am wondering if the poop would damage them........hhmmm........ looking forward to what some more experienced members woudl say......

I've got to disagree with you - that's a myth. Occasionally a mommy bird will not like it, but as a rule, no. As long as you wash your hands before handling the eggs/bubs so there are no germs, you and your birds will all be fine.

People handle eggs and bubs all the time (gently, of course). That's how you keep track of fertile and infertile eggs, and make sure the bubs don't have serious problems. It's not a big deal :)
