I keep my budgies inside my bedroom along the wall infront of a large window. So they get some sunlight, dont budgies need sunlight to breed?

Our budgies are in our living room, right next to the big windows in the front of the house. This room gets a lot of traffic so there are always people in the room. Also, the window has a great view for the birds. There are phone lines outside so they can see the birds perched on the wires. Also, there's a tall bush that comes in to view in the window that has a nest in it. So they get to see the birds go in and out of the bush all day.

Close to a window is good as long as the sunlight that hits the cage is filtered by sheer curtains or something similar. Otherwise, the poor little bird might get overheated. Also, make sure the window, if it is open, does not permit a draft on the cage. My Quaker is in a corner right next to an outside door with glass panes in it. I make sure the shade is down in the morning when the sun would, otherwise, hit her cage. She loves to look out the window at the other birds in the yard.

If you do keep your bird in the bedroom, there have been several articles written saying this is not a good idea. The small particles of dander and dust generated by the bird can cause respiratory problems. (For some reason Coccidocis (sp) comes to mind. I'm sure someone else can help me on this one.) With only one bird, I don't think it should be to bad but I don't know if I'd recommend more than one. Be sure you cover the bird at night, wherever it might be.

I keep Ozzie and Blinkie in the living room so they always have people around them and the general noises of the house (computers, tv, etc). I don't like keeping budgies in quiet rooms cause i don't think there's enough for them to see and think about.

I was keeping my budgies in my livingroom in front of our big picture window. I recently moved them to our dining room because they were repeatedly getting night frights despite being covered and the vertical blinds closed and eventually adding a night light for them. There was no way for me to rearrange the livingroom with a 64 inch cage but I could put them against a wall in my dining room. The can still see out another big picture window in the dining room, but have the wall behind them for a feeling of security. No night frights since the move. I spend lots of time in there with them.
