Nest box

MY female budgie has been going in and out of the nest box all this week and it seems my female and male are getting along better. Are they getting ready to mate?

Yes they are!The female will spend more and more time inside the nestbox and eventually will lay eggs.Are the poops larger, is the male trying to court the female?Whats going on?....tell us more!:) I think they are getting ready though.

Well just begging this week the female started to go in the nest box in the morning and around dusk. The male is starting to feed the female and usually the female will reject this but now she accepts it. I am unsure if the poops are getting larger. Once in a while i'll see the male dancing around in a way or bobbing his head up and down. So this is all i am aware of. Are they preparing to mate?

You will certainly know for sure when the poops are getting larger; they will become about the size of 10 poops if your girlie budgie is getting ready to lay. All of the signs you are talking about would seem to indicate that they are getting ready to mate. :p

I'd say they will mate soon as well. The things you are describing are the same things that happened just before my 2 mated.

in preporation for the babies i have a cuttlebone, mineral block, nest box, and a huge cage and let them have exersie twards the end of the day is there anything else i should have to get ready for the babies?

Egg Food,you could make this or buy it I feed my budgie moms and dads boiled egg and lettuce mashed up together and they feed it to teh babies, you can also buy it from the petstore or a bird supplier but making it is jsut as good,actually start to feed it now to your budgies so they can get used to it.Only feed it every few days!It spoils very quickly so be sure to remove it if it has not been eatin in a few hours,thats all I can tell you...lol:)

Just today i was watching my male budgie feed my female budgie by going to get seeds then come back and feed her then she had like a white paste around her beak is this the food from my male budgie?

Yes the male is feeding her teh food it id ussually white if seeds but can be red,yellow.....every color it depends on what you feed them...lol

You should use grated carrot or brocolli buds instead of lettuce. :) Lettuce is almost all water and is pretty useless for nutrition.

It depends how your budgies like it! If it's chopped finely, then less will be wasted.

just today i have noticed my female budgie having extremely large poop whats to come next?

An egg probably. Does she wiggle her bum to poop? All my hens have done that just before laying/

its been about 2 weeks since i first noticed the large poop but still no egg. Is this what is suppose to happen?
