Musician Budgie

Laker my Budgie really likes my son. He also loves music - sings along to almost anything - even the guitar & bass riffs that are played here.
He loves to hang out on Jack's shoulder when he's on the computer or just to ride around on his shoulder [it might be because my son is now 6'-4" & the tallest place to be.] The other day he joined him in his room while he was practicing his guitar work.

Cute pictures, but don't forget, if a guitar string snaps, it will cut through just about anything like butter. When my son was using a guitar for a while I made sure the the guitar face straight with his body so any broken string would whip out away from him and also made sure no one was standing in front of his guitar.

Thanks so much for the warning - He just changed the strings on both of the guitars - but that's a scary idea & I hadn't thought of it at all!

good warning, but most of the time, an experienced player won't really break strings. I've broken one string while playing in 8 years. and when it happened I had to stop in the middle of my performance. it wasn't because I could continue playing, it was because I was in shock.

That is adorable!! My budgies like to watch my boyfriend play the bass and sing along. My brother also tried playing the accoustic guitar for Banana, but I think it was a little too intense for him.

My son recently bought himself a Trumpet & the birds love it too! However it isn't the $3000.00 kind & their nails scratch the surface so he closes the door when practicing,

Only our older bird likes to hang beside or on the guitar or bass. The baby is not so certain they're safe. :eek: :)

Have you tried to get a photo? piano Budgie sounds very sweet.

Laker & Rio like lots of different music - Pop, Country & Classical. I've noticed that Rio really likes Hip Hop or Rap - while Laker isn't into it at all but enjoys Reggae or Ska [sp] which does nothing for Rio. They either sing along withthe song or wait to fill in on the quiet parts [i'm not too musical myself ;) ].

We're testing different kinds of music on him now, and he sings along to a lot of them, but some he just don't seem bothered with :laughing:

Thanks for the compliments - yes they are brilliant - all of them. I think it's very interesting that they have musical preferences.

Have you tried whistling or singing yourself? I'm a terrible singer so i know very few songs - only nursery rhymes i sang to my son - but Laker is very polite & listens very carefully. When he was my only Budgie he'd serenade me quite a bit - he still does from time to time. When he does Rio stands by listening intently. :D

So sweet these guys - always something to talk about. My son says you can't be in a bad mood for long if you spend any time with them. They're bound to make you laugh.

Yes, I was singing along to the music we were listening to when he started singing and whistling with me today. Then I whistled back at him and tried to mimic him, but he was doing some pretty fancy stuff :p

Yeah, I think Attie has a preference from what I can tell too. He loves really soft love-song types and enjoys the type of music I can head-bang to.
He fits right in with me, I'll tell you! xD
