Hello! Im trying to put my budgies on a better diet, at the moment they are on a seed mix, they also have a mineral block, cuttlefish bone, millet spray and ocassinally a fruit stick (treat thing)

Im now trying to get them to eat fruit and vegetables, but they just wont eat it, ive tried everything i can think of!! They get scared of anything new i put in their cage, and just ignore it! Ive tried mixing things with their seed but then they wont eat the seed! ive put things on the bottom of their cage, in a separate food bowl, on the perches etc! Nothings works!!
They seem happy and healthy, but i think that they really need to have the vegetables as well!

Just give it some time, it takes patience. Be sure to always have it fresh and never right out of the fridge and you also may want to make the fruit into little shapes like stars and circles so they may be more interested in it :)

Mine started eating them when he was in a biting mood, so I stuck a carrot in his face and he bit it. Now he tries anything I put in his dish.

What I did with Boy was just to put a piece of broccoli and a slice of carrot in a clip attached to his cage and just left it. He soon just had to have a look and a taste, then it was no time at all before it was all gone. I have noticed with Boy that he doesn't like it to be shredded or chopped up, so I just give him slices of carrot and florets of broccoli and let him peck at it.

Do you feed all raw veges?? I presume you would, but just wanted to check!

I read this idea somewhere, give it a try! Take away all mirrors, Hang one mirror in front of the dish of veggies or whatever food you are trying to introduce. Your budgies may see themselves in front of the food and they might think that another bird is eating some thing that they would like to eat too. It may take a few days, but it worked for my bird peekaboo. I hope it works for your birds as well. Good Luck! Tina Marie
