We got her from a good breeder an hour an a half away from me yesterday morning. I bring her home and quarantine her in her own brand new little cage and gave her seed and water. She was a little quiet which was normal for a new budgie but then later that night she seem weird. She also had diarrhea. I was so upset to find her dead in her cage this morning. I called the breeder and she is willing to replace her but I'm just so upset and don't know if I would.

The worst thing is that I don't know how she dead. She was healthy. Could she have died from being homesick? We didn't handle her at all. I just don't know what it could be.:(

Sorry to sound so sad but I have never been a budgie owner til like 2 months ago, when I purchased 2, Blue and Jade. Before that I never had a bird. So I never had one die on me and I got to say, it sucks.

I'm so sorry for your loss, it must be so heart breaking. Even though it was such a short time it still hurts just as much. :(

I would also say she was sick when you got her. I would get your money back from the breeder, purchasing another chick could mean that one is sick as well.

Yes, it is very sad. She was bought for my daughter and so shes really sad. I did go to the breeder and she checked Tweetie out. She doesn't know what could have happened. I checked some of her other budgies and they seem really healthy. My daughter would not leave without another and I refused to get the ones that were caged with Tweetie when I first bought her so she decided to go with a blue one. She is a little older than tweetie.

RIP Tweetie.

I am sorrey for your loss. :( Ya she was probably sick when you got her. Most breeders will let you get your money back or atleast let you pick out a new bird if you take the birds body in to a vet and get a neocropsy done to tell exactly what the cause of the death was.

R.i.p. Tweetie

She was nice about it. She said she will refund or I can chose another. So I chose another.

That is really sad, but I would like to point out, aren't you glad you did quarantine the little one before the illness could be passed on. Assuming of course that it was contagious. :)

I think it was smart of you to choose a bird that was caged separately from Tweety. I really hope your new one works out. :)

I am so sorry about your loss. I recently lost a budgie after 10 days so I know how you feel. I just bought a new baby from a breeder at a show today and he better not be dead tomorrow as the breeder is 9 hrs. from here.

Yes, I'm very glad I did quarantine her from my other 2. So far my new one is doing okay. She hears my other budgies and she chirps to them. I can't wait for the 30 days to be over but I'll rather do that then risk anything happening to all of them.

If your life is anything like mine, you will turn around and the 30 days will have passed. :)

30 days is worth it. And when they meet, you get to watch them go crazy! Quarantine just ended for my little Stardust, and she got to meet my Ollie, and now they are in love. It is so worth it! Don't risk it!

I am so sorry to hear of your loss. Do you have any idea of why he died? Was he hatched in your home? If not 4 weeks was awful early for him to have been sold. How long have you had him?
