Is it ok to give Boy parrot food? It looks so much more interesting than just seed, or would it be too big for him to cope with....just a thought.;)

By parrot food, do you mean parrot seed mix or pellets (i.e. formulated diet)? If the food pieces are large, your budgie may not like them. For example, some people buy their budgies the small canary pellets because their budgie has a preference for small pieces. Other people get away with buying the larger parrot pellets because their budgies like to use their beaks to break the food into more manageable pieces.

Generally I have found that with seed mixes (i.e. ones that have a bunch of different kinds of seeds in the mix), budgies will pick out only certain types of seeds and eat those. They will completely ignore the others. Just a thought to keep in mind.

No, it wasn't just seed I was thinking of. In my pet shop they do a parrot mix which comprises sunflower seeds, peppers, chilli pepper, nuts in shells all that sort of thing. I just didn't know whether I could get Boy something like that as well as his seeds. As a sort of treat/extra diet.

You could certainly offer it in addition to his regular diet. He may or may not try it so just be prepared to have a budgie who demonstrates a much greater preference to his seeds rather than the parrot mix.

LOL!!! Yeah, I doubt very much if I got a wannabe parrot on my hands. I just thought it would be a variety for him as well as his seed of course.

you can give him a little of the seeds, but not as a regular diet as it will be too big for him to eat.

You can buy budgie foods with pellets as well. :)

OK, I'll try him with bits and pieces and see what happens.
