I'm gonna be starting this hand-training journal because tomorrow will be a week since I first got him. I've been sitting next to him with my hand resting near the outside bars. He's been eating treats out of my hand for the past 3-4 days or so. So far, he' still been pretty skittish around my hand though. Although, today I've noticed a lot more activity. He's flown all around his cage, hopped all over his perches, and he even tried to chew his calcium perch. He eats a TON! spends about 1/3 of his day in his bowl, chowing down. So anyway....
I'll be keeping you guys posted :)
Today, 11/29/11 :
He just perched on a perch I was holding! Big step forward. Really Excited! :D
Today, he also tried playing with one of his toys. Not sure he like it much. It is a Popsicle stick toy with little wooden balls in the middle with some thread for shredding on the bottom. He hopped right on hit, hung on for about 10 seconds, and the flew off
Today, 11/30/11:
He perched on a perch I was holding again although this time he seems a bit more hesitant. I'll just keep doing it until he doesn't even think about it :)
Today, 12/1/11
Hook keeps trying to escape. I tried to calm him down by feeding him some millet. While I was feeding him, he completely perched on my hand. I wanted to let him out sooooo bad because I know he really wants to come out, but I new he wasn't ready yet. At least one positive today :(
