This was a while ago...I told my self i would never post this thread, because i knew i could, and i can do better than what happend. For thoes who would like to know, here is the story of Jules

Jules was my first budgie. I had spent a year researching and saving up to buy him. It was a rainy day when we got him and my father let my cat in the house without warning me. My cat quickly got to Jules before i could. He did not die until a day later. I gave him medication and stayed with him all night and all day. Around 6pm the next day i noticed a dramatic change in his behavior, which was when i knew i was losing him. He died in my hands, it felt so hopeless, because no matter what i did there was no way i could fix the situation.

Jules was absolutely beautiful, and I will always remember him as the greatest budgie.

I now have another budgie named Tuffy (as most of you know), and he is a joy. I've hade him for ruffly a year and no matter what my cat will NEVER EVER get him or Delorean (my blue crowned conure).

Out of everything that happend i think the worst part was knowing i picked him. It was my fault. He could have hade another owner, or lived happily with his friends. but no i hade to cut his life short because i picked him, for what? After this situation was when i joined the forum

Sasha. you now know the dangers, of having a cat aswel as a budgie, (or any other bird). so now you will be more careful as a person who as no cat, or any other animal that could harm a budgie( or other bird). so dont feel guilty, as it was not your fault, but a terrible mistake, that could of happened to any 1 of us.chin up, and keep smiling.:) :) :)

sweetie, thanks for being able to share that with us now. Many many moons ago, my boyfriend, now hubby, and i would let our conure out (coco) when our ferret was out. this went on for years. one day coco was spooked and flew to the floor, and ginger (ferret) attacked him. there was lots of blood and puncture wounds but he managed to survive. we ALL make mistakes, and we learn from them, NONE of us are perfect (no matter how many times i tell mr b i am!)
hugs to you, and rip sweet jules

Thanks everyone :) It's nice to tell someone about the situation, and have people to respond from experience and kindness

I think what you have done by telling us is a very brave thing to have done, because we blame ourselves.

I had a simular incident when i was about 7-8 years old, my dog knocked the cage over and managed to catch our beautiful little boy budgie Toby.

He died instantly but i have never forgiven myself, we have learnt from that one terrible terrible mistake though.

RIP Jules x

One of my moms cats almost got Sunshine once. Luckilly it was only his tail feathers that she got. I had always kept my door shut but I guess this one day I didn't shut it well enough. The cat got in and knocked over the cage. The cage opened, the birds (this was when Skylar was still around) went flying and Sunshine landed on the floor. The cat pounced just as I ran to my room to see what the commotion was. The cat had pinned Sunshine by the tail and when Sunshine tried to fly away, some of his feahers got ripped out. No more accidents involving cats after that, soon after that I went out and bought a more secure cage with my birthday money.
