and seperate the budgies so the other doesnt get sick too. Take the budgie to a vet.

How old is your little sweetie who is hanging out on the bottom of the cage? If it is arthritis, that would usually be in the toes so they can't point their toes properly to perch normally. Does your budgie show other signs of illness or discomfort?
Please let us know!!

Hey Alice :wave1: , i have a budgie, Green, and she has arthritis in the toes. She has problems climbing up the bars of her cage and maintaining her balance. Like everyone here has said, take him to the vet. When Green was taken to the vet, she was given an antibiotic. This antibiotic could be slipped into her water but as she was living with another budgie, we gave it to her separately.
Keep us updated.

Haai Alice. my name is Elsabe. You dont have to seprate your budgies. You can give your budgie some antibiotika. it is called terramycin. 1/2 teaspoon in 1L water. This is all I use. I always keep it in the house for my birds. if you think your bird doesnt feel well hou can give it to him for 3-5 days. If there is no improvement you must take it to a place that works with birds. if you give him the terramycin you can not give him other water. The other budgies can also drink it. Nothing will happen to them. But if you already gave your budgie antibiotika I sugest you wait with the terramycin. To much is also no good. Let me know what happend

i dont think giving medication to the bird without knowing exactly what is wrong should be advised.
a vet visit is in order.

Teramycin is related to tetracycline which is used to treat aerobic and anaerobic bacteria that are susceptible. It can also be used to treat certain protozoal infections.
As with any antibiotics, they should not be given unless needed, otherwise resistance to the meds can occur and they will not work. Unless the budgie has a bacterial infection, the antibiotic will be useless so I wouldn't recommend giving them unless a diagnosis of a bacterial infection has been made.

It is antibiotic and not any medicine. It cant harm your bird. I`ve been using it for years. If the terramycin doesnt sort the problem out it will not do any harm to your bird. That is why I save that it is save for all the birds in the cage to use it. I think your bird has hurt his foot or his leg. A bird that is sick that got flue or something normally doesnt live longer than 48 hours. I`ve got birds since 1999 and wont tell you to use terramycin if i think your birds would be in danger using it
