Can english budgies be crossed with American budgies?:S I want to try get a cross because I want to buy an English male and cross breed it with an Ameriacan budgie I have.

lol the reason i said yes is because i remembered someone on these forums told me the budgie in their avatar was half american and half english budgie. And that person was YOU!

Yes, they can and often are crossed. :)

Joey. Absolutely you CAN breed English with American. You'll find the babies are in between the two, size wise. Budgies are Budgies are Budgies. The English have a different conformation. Larger,etc. The Americans, however, seem to have more variation in colors. I, personally, prefer the English.

It is so hard to tell differences between some of the birds. There are large American ones and some small Engligh ones and everything in between. As a rule, however, the English DO have a tendency to be quite a bit larger than the American counterparts. The head size/structure is the most obvious feature, I think.

I'll try to take some photos for you. I have American, English and English/American. in my aviary.

I know how the English look like I have seen them and the American but I dont think that I have seen a cross.:)

I personally prefer the american budgies because i prefer smaller birds to larger birds. But then again English Budgies have great colours!. :cool:.

i have often wonderd if ozzie is english but now i think hes crossbred.he is big but his head is straight but still kinda round????
