Hi,

Me and one of my budgies, Prince, have been working on some hand training, and I believe that we have made some progress. At first Prince freaked out and looked for the nearest escape option, but I was persistent and stuck around for a long while (around 30-40 minutes) and bribed him with carrot shreds and he liked my hand so much that he took a nap on my hand (I had to hang around for a while). He was outside of his cage, and he was a little more than a foot away from his cage top.

Can someone tell me the "tame standard" for a male budgie that's over 5-6 months old so I know how much to expect and when to stop pushing him?

I know all budgies are different, so please simply tell me your own experiences if possible.

Thank You!

I wanted to tell you I think you and Prince have made great progress!! :congrats:

I don't have my guys tamed -- I just let them do their thing. :D

As for tame, your budgie should be HAPPY on your finger, and not afraid and acting very calm and cheerful, not trembling or running away until he finally takes a tentative step on your finger.

That's what I believe.

Congrats on the progress!
