Seeds!

Ok, well i currently have Premium http://www.hagen.com/img/birds/addinfo/80340.jpg seeds that i feeed to my budgie. But she seems to pick out the seeds and doesnt eat the fruits and stuff.

ANyone have any advice on what seeds i should buy next time i go to my pet store? I want something healthy and something she will finish. At my pet store they have all the Hagen seeds if anyone has any other brands just tell me and i will check if they have them.

Trill is a very good brand and your budgie is garenteed to eat it all.

You should offer fresh fruit and veggies to them chopped up it might take awhile for them to try it but they will like it I think it's worth a try.

well they didnt have any of those, I live in Canada. I asked the bird lady what the best food would be. I got this giant bag of Hagen seeds for 5 bucks. It pretty much the same as what i have now but without the fruits and vegies. I'm going to be feeding her frech vergies instead cause she didnt eat those ones anyways. I bought something to hold the vegies and fruits.

that way there wouldnt be any seed shells.

I don't know if you do this already but budgies only need 2 teaspoons of seed a day. As you only have one budgie this will be easy, measure her seed. Then she has to eat ALL types of seed and will get maximum nutrition from the mix. :D If you just fill a budgies seed cup to the top or even most of the way up it's like offering a child chocolate next to brocolli....which would you choose. There is a lot of millet in most seed mixes and also oats, these are common favourites. :P

I say find the seed mix that has the largest variety of different seeds. The one i feed Blink and Oz is Trill Complete Budgerigar Mix, it has 5 different seeds as well as nutrivit which is like a pellet from what i can see. Then measure the seed and offer lots of fresh veggies. :)

i wish i could get trill although the seeds i just bought have about 5 different kinds of seeds. And my budgie is starting to eat vegies and use the cuttlebone and mineral block.

I think its better to just feed them fresh fruits and vegatables. My birds love them also my birds get vitamins and regular budgie vitamins.

Do u have a Nature pet center near you? It might only be in Quebec.
