Well, apparently Selma is just fine!!!! She layed her egg this afternoon!! It is the most beautiful thing I have ever seen! Now lets just hope that it is fertile.

I am so happy to hear that Selma wasn't egg bound! I'll keep my fingers crossed to with the hope that the egg is fertile. That is an exciting piece of news!! :p

Congrats! That must be so exciting! Hope there is a little baby budgie developing in there!

I don't know what you mean by 'candle the egg', but I don't want to handle it. I would be afraid to break it.

:) To candle an egg you just shine a flashlight on the egg and you can see if it is fertile. :)

Usually by the 6th day of breeding you can determine if an egg is fertile.if you have a thin pair of gloves put them on.you hold the egg against a bright light,a pocket flashlight or small torch.if the egg is fertile you should see a dark embryo, and bright red blood vessels.unfertilized eggs are clear. hope this helps you.

I am! Now I am watching my other pair for signs of impending eggs! They are so much slower... I thought they would be the first to lay, but I was wrong. Now we have 2 eggs!

From the last time that I saw them mating, it was about 9 days. So, I am sure they mated after that!
Well it could have been the mate you saw that was sucessful.
