What's an English Budgie?

I tried to do a search online for them but they look like my birds. What is the difference between a regular budgie and an English one? Do I have English?

English budgies are just Show budgies! They have a broader chest, and A more fluffy Mask, and are almsot always bigger. They are usually always used for show, since american budgies do better a pets.

English budgies are exhibition budgies which are used for shows and stuff, but sometimes as pets. They are bigger and have a broader crest than regular budgies.

I personally think they ugly but alto people like them they ahve a big forhead and pushed in eyes.

English Budgies or Exhibition Budgies have been under selective breeding for over 200 years for a larger and more stylized look. Go to the BAA web site and lick on Shows. If you click on 2006 shows you will see some of those have pics attached. http://www.budgerigarassociation.com You will see some really NICE English budgies.

I think Freya might be an english from seeing that pic, she is bigger than Darwin, has a broader chest and is always puffing her head up. Unfortunately I couldnt show her as both her and Darwin have crossed wings at the end.

I think both types of budgies are good looking in their own way.

To me, english budgies look more mature and sophisticated. They sort of look like the "adult" version of a budgie lol If you know what I mean.

American budgies look adorable and cute. They often look cuddly (which they aren't most of the time lol) and almost baby-ish.

Now, mix the two and you've got one super duprer handsome and cute budgie!

Thank you! Slight subtleties I didn't notice, now stand out clear as day by A-n-M photo. Ya, they are kind of ugly, I agree -- but sort of cute in their own way. They have that superior look about them like pfffft, you're just a regular budgie look at me! Hee hee!

Have a really cute book that is called "Why do Parakeets Do That?" It has an interesting chaptlet aout the English Budgie. Basically they were bred for show, but not all of them are kept for show and are sold. Mine is one with beautiful colors - white with lavender markings, but not show quality because his head is not big enough. He is really mellow.

All budgies are really great! My opinion is that Americans are smarter, but that is just my opinion based on my English and Americans.
