Hello everyone!

The staff has thought about it for a long time now, and we recently got another suggestion from a member to make one, so we finally implemented it.

Introducing the new Lost and Found forum! It is an absolutely terrible feeling to lose a budgie. Whether it flies out the window or escapes the cage outside, it can be very difficult to get it back sometimes. So, if you do happen to lose your budgie, post about it in the lost and found forum. Include your location and a description of your budgie and maybe a person on Talk Budgies in your area will find it.

In addition, if you happen to find a budgie, post about it in the lost and found forum, and you may just make someone's day!

You will notice, when you post a thread, that it asks for a thread prefix. The prefixes are either "LOST" or "FOUND", so choose according to your situation.

If you have any other questions about this, please feel free to ask, either by PMing a staff member or by asking below.

Thanks!

Glad it's being well received. We hope we never have to actually use it, but it will be handy if we ever do get into the situation of a lost budgie.

Thanks so much for putting this in place! I know it will help owners enormously.

I was wondering two things - are you perhaps going to move existing lost/found threads over to the new forum? They seem to be posted in many different places in the forum at the moment and it would be easier to keep track of what is happening in these cases if they're all in one place.

Also, it would be great to see two stickies in the new forum with advice for lost and a separate one for found budgies. I have learned a lot about what to do about a lost budgie since I got to Talk Budgies and a sticky with all of this advice gathered together would be a great place for stricken owners to get some sensible advice.

Also, I think it is important to remind posters in the case of found budgies NOT to post photos of the found bird or to give too detailed descriptions because some unscrupulous people do claim found birds that are not theirs and the real owner may never be found!
